Daystar Academy is a private, bilingual, co-educational, elementary day school with a diverse student body from local Chinese, returning Chinese and foreign non-Chinese families. The school was founded 10 years ago with a handful of students and one teacher in a house in Beijing, but today there are 210 students and more than 60 foreign and local staff in a beautiful purpose-built campus. While the Daystar kindergarten and elementary sections are approaching capacity, the school is already planning to gradually expand into a middle school and probably eventually into a high school. The school also intends to seek accreditation with the Council of International Schools (UK-based) and one of the US-based accrediting agencies such as the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
